Forearm Workout: 7 Exercises for Grip Strength and Size

Published October 20, 2026

The best forearm workout combines heavy holds (farmer's carries, dead hangs), wrist curls in both directions, and hammer or reverse curls, 2-3 times a week at the end of your sessions. Bigger forearms come with a stronger grip, which helps every pulling lift; in a large international study, lower grip strength was associated with higher risk of death and cardiovascular disease (Leong et al., 2015), making grip a useful marker of overall strength.

  • Save straps for the heaviest sets.
